POSITION: CONSULTANT OBSTETRICIAN/GYNAECOLOGIST JOB GROUP
CPSB 04 (Q)
Number of Posts: Two (2) Posts
Terms of Service: Permanent
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Duties and responsibilities
1. Teaching and supervision of health workers;
2. Outreach clinics and surgeries in the County hospital;
3. Assisting policy formulation;
4. Provide guidance in their departments as a consultant in their respective areas;
5. Taking administrative roles in the department and in the Hospital management team;
6. Care for and treat women during prenatal, natal and postnatal periods;
7. Perform caesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve
patients’ health deliver babies safely;
8. Analyze record, reports, test results or examination information to diagnose medical
condition of patients;
9. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribe treatment with patients;
10. Monitor patient’s conditions and progress and revaluate treatments as necessary;
11. Advise patients and community members concerning diets, activity, hygiene and
disease prevention; and,
12. Refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
Requirements for Appointment
1. Be a Kenyan citizen
2. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.CH. B) from an institution
recognized by the relevant Bodies in Kenya;
3. A Master of Medicine in Obstetrics/ Gynecology from a recognized institution in
Kenya;
4. Registered with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Counsel with a valid
specialist recognition certificate
5. Have a valid practicing license
6. Served for minimum of three (3) years at Job Group CPSB 05 P or Its approved
equivalent or in a comparable similar position in the private sector.
