The objective of this position is to foster a culture of research excellence, advancing the quality and impact of postgraduate programs, fostering innovation within the institution, and securing funding for innovative projects. Additionally, the role aims to ensure the academic and professional success of postgraduate students while promoting ethical research practices and the dissemination of knowledge.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to Deputy Vice Chancellor (ARS),the position holder will be responsible for the following,amongst others:
• Coordinate the activities of the Board of Postgraduate Studies and serve as its secretary.
• Sustaining high academic standards in postgraduate programs including ensuring quality standards in teaching, research, thesis writing, and publication of research works for postgraduate students
• Encouraging the dissemination of research findings by publishing in respected journals, attending conferences, and using other effective methods.
• Source for research and grants funding opportunities locally and internationally for Zetech University and its faculty.
• Initiate, implement, and coordinate training and capacity building of postgraduate students and faculty in research & grant proposals writing.
• Lead research grant writing
• Student and staff mentorship in research.
• Encourage multidisciplinary research projects and initiatives.
• Secure funding from various sources to support, research initiatives, and postgraduate scholarships.
Qualification & Experience
• PhD/ D.Sc./D.Ed./DBA/D.Eng. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.
• At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow or 6 years research/ industry experience
• A minimum of thirty-two (32) publications as a Lecturer/Research Fellow of which twenty-four(24) should be refereed journals articles:
• Supervised at least 1 PhD. student and 3 postgraduate students to completion
• Attracted research funds as a Lecturer/Research Fellow
• Registered by a relevant Professional Body
• Attended and Contributed at Academic conferences, seminars or workshops
• Evidence of Contribution to University life through active participation in departmental and school matters or meetings, students’ academic advising and committee membership among others
