REF: TUR/CPSB/031/2023/2024: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PEACE BUILDING AND
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT - JOB GROUP “P”, 3 POSTS
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Deputy Director, Peace Building and Conflict
Management
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
(i) initiate strategies that address conflict and more immediate as well as deep rooted cultural
causes of conflict to enhance continuous harmony and peaceful community co-existence,
(ii) Report promptly incidents of conflict within your area of operation and across borders along
areas of operation;
(iii)Address cases or incidences to the Director peace building and conflict management
(iv)Conduct inter and intra community peace building meetings in the sub-counties.
(v) Implement pro-active programmes that are strategically geared towards peace building and
conflict management.
(vi)Advice on and propose integrated strategies for peace building conflict resolutions
(vii) Implement an inter-agency capacity for conflict prevention and peace building at
various levels in your area of operation
(viii) Support mediation efforts in order to head-off potential crisis and subsequent conflict
at an early and manageable stage
(ix)Monitor the local socio-political development and advice on conflict prevention,
management and peace building initiative respectively
(x) Assist in monitoring security situation in mapped conflict zones and inform relevant County
security agencies for any potential risk and timely remedial action.
(xi)Prepare quarterly and annual reports on peace building initiatives/programmes from the
respective regions
(xii) Support Sub-county administrators, Ward Administrators and other stakeholders to
monitor and respond to conflict incidences.
(xiii) Perform any other duty assigned by the Director Peace building and conflict
management.
Requirements for Appointment:-
(i) Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
Institution;
(ii) Proficiency in Computer Applications;
(iii)Senior management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
(iv)A Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
(v) Demonstrated commitment to gender integration, social inclusion, and building social
cohesion
(vi)Strong administrative and organization skills, commitment, attention to detail and strong
forward planning skills
(vii) Hands on approach to work, with the ability to deliver on deadlines in a fast-paced and
fast-changing environment, with minimal or no supervision
