Job Description

PURPOSE:
The role is responsible for marketing to new and existing clients to grow quality business of both the asset and liability book in line with set targets and attain target profit for the Bank. This role is also responsible for the retention of existing Institutional customers, and growing the wallet share from existing business/personal banking requirements and effective management of the relationship /customer experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Incumbent will report to the Head of Institutional Banking and will be responsible for:
• Identify and develop new business relationships with potential Institutional Banking clients in order to achieve the bank’s liability objectives.
• Proactively market for Institutional Banking target clients and make extensive customer visits to obtain new business and cement existing relationships
• Deliver exceptional sales performance in line with the banks strategic objectives
• Manage a portfolio of Institutional Banking clients to retain and deepen the relationships.
• Develop a thorough understanding of bank products to be able to continually identify and exploit cross selling opportunities and increase wallet share
• Mobilize High Cost and Low Cost Deposits to grow the Bank’s Deposit Base in line with Institutional Banking targets;
• Act as the liaison person between customer and the bank – effective communication of Bank expectations and requirements and vice versa.
• Develop winning customer value propositions targeting Institutional Banking clients to generate funded and non-funded income.
• Ensure that there is increased earnings, and utilization of all bank products through the development of appropriate value chains
• Build and maintain customer relationships in order to achieve excellent customer service and customer loyalty
• Assist in developing new products and customer value propositions for Institutional Banking customers
• Preparing Call reports with recommendations and submitting for consideration by approvers;
• Providing feedback to the client on the outcome of their request and providing other solutions which could be beneficial to them in the long run
• Processing ad-hoc/additional/new requests/excesses under allotted portfolio and obtaining approvals where/when required; and
• Cross selling the Bank’s and Group’s products.
• Making regular customer meetings and visits to build and grow the relationship;
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Professional Qualifications
• Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma or its equivalent; and
• Member of Associate of Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB) or its equivalent professional body.
Experience
• At least 3 years relevant experience
Generic Competencies
• Ability to prepare proposals and PowerPoint presentations
• Ability to write letters, reports and/or perform routine calculations with the competence to explain these verbally; and
• Ability to communicate well with others both inside and outside the company.
Skills and Attributes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills;
• Knowledgeable in credit, legal (conveyancing) and lending knowledge;
• Basic understanding of Banking Law; and
