Job Description

The Judicial Service Commission is established under Article 171 of the
Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with a mandate of promoting and facilitating the
independence and accountability of the Judiciary, and the efficient, effective and
transparent Administration of Justice.
The Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the
following vacancy in the Kenya Judiciary Academy:
POSITION: CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER I (KJA 5)

Terms of Service : Permanent and Pensionable
Gross Salary Scale : Kshs. 104,300 – 131,100 p.m.

Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for the development of curricula and assurance
of learning processes.

Reporting Responsibilities:
The job holder is responsible to the Deputy Director, Education and Curriculum
Development

Area of Deployment:
Education and Curriculum Development Department

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Establishing and maintaining high levels of professional conduct in the
area of responsibility;
ii. Developing relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support
materials;
iii. Ensuring improvement in Training programs, teaching, learning and
learner experience;
iv. Ensuring that the Academy’s quality processes are embedded within the
curriculum area, in order to demonstrate their impact upon program
delivery (teaching and learning);
v. Ensuring training programs and curricula meets learners training needs
to impact on the now and emerging issues.
vi. Developing and reviewing of data collection documents for evaluation and
vetting of curriculum and support materials
vii. Analyzing training programs and curricula and give feedback to
management.

Job Requirements:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
For appointment to this positions, the applicant must have: -
i. A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Education or
any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
ii. A Management Course or its equivalent from a recognized institution
iii. Proficiency in computer application skills; and
iv. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Experience:
i. At least three (3) years relevant work experience as a Curriculum
Development Officer II or Previous work experience as a Lecturer or Law
Practitioner writing curriculum/ instructional materials for adults for at
least three (3) years.
ii. At least one (1) year at Supervisory Management Level
