Job Description
Royal Media Services Limited wishes to recruit a high caliber individual in the position of Head of Radio for Magalata FM. They will assist senior level management to run the station in all aspects.
Key roles and responsibilities
The successful candidate will work to successfully execute the following responsibilities;
• Ensure smooth and consistent running of the stations’ day to day operations
• Focus and deliver the agreed on positioning for the Station.
• Execute strategic plan in consultation with senior level management for the station.
• Grow stations’ audience progressively.
• Support sales function, attend client meetings and actualize client briefs, towards growing stations revenues.
• Ensure quality control, improve the stations’ on air sound, constantly evaluate and guide talent and station performance.
• Accept responsibility for on-air and support (production and traffic) staff
• Create schedules to guide operations and assign responsibilities as appropriate.
• Consolidate and deliver requisite reports to senior level management, and provide regular input for programming optimization.
• Read, analyse and interpret research on habits, preferences and trends of the target audience and come up with clear implementation strategies in line with the findings
• Hold station and individual show meetings, brainstorm with all the relevant people and plan ahead.
• Handle minor arbitration as required
• Plan, prioritize strategically and budget for stations operations.
• Liaise with all requisite internal departments including but not limited to Production, Traffic, ICT, Technical to ensure flawless operations
• Daily monitoring and analysis of the competition
• Exhibit solid business acumen with an ability to grow the brand and enhance its competitive edge
• Manage audience and client expectations, manage and lead in audience nurturing programs and establish clear feedback mechanisms so that customer needs are addressed effectively, ensure disputes and concerns are resolved promptly.
• Plan, manage and successfully execute on ground audience engagements in line with stations strategic direction.
• Execute strategic corporate social responsibility and enhance the station image and loyalty in the community
• Provide Leadership, have excellent people skills with a knack for talent development and retention
Academic, professional Experience and person specification
• Should hold a Bachelor’s degree preferably in the arts
• Have Mass Communication Training at an appropriate level
• Fluent in spoken and written English, Swahili and Borana
• Demonstrated ability to write and present creative scripts, proposals and promotional concepts
• Between 25 and 40 years old, energetic and passionate about their work
• Be a leader with a positive attitude
• A good people manager (able to get the best out of diverse characters)
• Able to work at odd hours and remote locations
• Have an ear for music
• Have an eye for talent
• Have a solid understanding of the target audience.
