MANAGER CASE MANAGEMENT – NCIA 2 (REF: NCIA/HR/02/2021-2022)
An officer at this level will be the Head of Case Management Department reporting to
the Registrar/CEO.
Terms of Service 5-year Contract renewable subject to Performance
Salary Scale Min. Kshs. 301,900 to Max. Kshs. 374,000 (Monthly Gross Pay)
Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department and oversees the administration of Domestic and International Arbitrations as well as alternative dispute resolution techniques; the case quality assurance and advisory; ADR research & Development as well as ADR
Training towards promotion and administration of ADR.
Key Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks
i. Formulating and implementing policies and strategies for the department.
ii. Administration of the registry and cases registered by the Centre.
iii. Ensuring compliance by parties of the relevant laws, rules, and other case management
protocols applicable to a case.
iv. Providing advisory, technical, and administrative assistance upon request by parties; proposing revision of Rules, Codes of Practice, and guidelines.
v. Issue advisories on enforcement of arbitral awards.
vi. Conducting comparative legal analyses on a range of issues.
vii. Identifying legal and policy issues, research relevant precedents, and propose appropriate
solutions.
viii. Preparing briefs and memoranda on diverse topics as required.
ix. Assisting the Arbitral Court with any additional or administrative work including library research and online legal resources.
x. Coordination of the implementation of the department’s strategic plans and realization of its
objective.
xi. Overseeing the implementation of performance appraisal systems and contracts of the
department.
xii. Preparing budget for the department.
xiii. Ensuring accountability and prudent management of resources and assets and ensuring
compliance with principles and values of good governance transparency, accountability, ethics,
and integrity.
Working Conditions
Normal office working conditions, extra hours (beyond normal office working hours)within the
office with occasional travel to the field and international travel.
Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).
Academic Qualifications.
(i) Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Arbitration, or equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution; and
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Arbitration, or equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution.
Other qualifications
(i) Certificate in Arbitration and/or Mediation or any other ADR disciplines.
(ii) Certificate in a corporate governance course from a recognized institution.
(iii)Certificate in a strategic leadership course from a recognized institution.
(iv)Certificate in a senior management course from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer application skills, word, excel, power point, internet usage
Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
(i) Post-graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
(ii) Be a member of a recognized professional body in good standing.
Previous relevant work experience required.
Served in the grade of Principal Case Counsel - Case Administration/Case Quality Assurance &
Advisory for a minimum period of three (3) years
Or
Have relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years’ experience in a relevant and comparable position in the public or private sector with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management position.
