Job Description
a)Job purpose
The Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial function and
Business Development Strategy of the Company
b) Reporting relationship
The position reports to the Managing Director
c) Supervises
The position supervises the commercial department/function staff
d) Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position are: -
i. Processing new customer accounts, Updating the customers
register/accounts
ii. Coordinate the departmental performance to ensure realization of set
targets monthly, quarterly and annually
iii. Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the
department
iv. Prepare Board management papers for approval
v. Ensure that all the data with regards to monthly meter readings and
payments is entered and verified
vi. Liaising with other sections in provision of quality service to customers
vii. Ensuring timely billings of all services provided to customers vii.
Maintaining accurate records
viii. Preparing accurate reports as required
ix. Liaising with other sections in provision of quality
service to customers
x. Identify training needs for departmental staff
xi. Recommend appropriate development
opportunities for the departmental staff to address
identified needs
xii. Addressing promptly to complaints from customers
xiii. Develop department budget and work plan
xiv. Mentor and coach departmental staff
xv. Identify procurement needs of the department
xvi. Participate in strategic planning and implementation.
xvii. Responsible for physical assets assigned by the company
xviii. Makes strategic, operational and financial decisions for the department
xix. Plans the work of subordinates, assigns work to subordinates, monitors
subordinates work performance. Appraises/evaluates subordinates
performance
xx. Work closely with other departments/sections in all areas.
xxi. Performing any other work other relevant responsibilities as may be
assigned by the company
e) Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Strategic
Management or any other Business-related field from a
recognized
Institution
CPA (K), ACCA or relevant professional qualification.
Member of a professional body and in good standing
Demonstrable ability to prepare various business reports
Ability to communicate effectively in diverse work situations
7 years' of work experience with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial
or supervisory position.
Must be computer literate.
