Background Information:
Egerton University Retirement Benefit Scheme was established 1967. The scheme is a registered scheme under the RBA and KRA Acts. The scheme is a Defined contribution scheme valued at Ksh.11.5 billion.
In order to run the scheme effectively, several service providers have been outsourced. Those include the Fund administrator, Fund Managers, custodian and scheme auditor. The main objective of the scheme is to preserve and grow members' contributions through a mix of investment strategies. Existing members are paid their dues in accordance with guidelines provided by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) and the scheme trust and Deed. The income of the scheme is both Taxable and Non Taxable.
The scheme is in the process of recruiting an external auditor.
The following are the qualifications
1. Fully registered firm with a practicing certificate from Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
2. At least 10 years of experience in provision of audit services to pension schemes.
3. Experienced In pension scheme accounts that is taxable and non-taxable income.
4. Experience in auditing of pension benefits with income from members contribution, land and building (Real estate property).
