Job Summary
The job holder is responsible for developing and implementing a Communication Strategy that raises the company’s profile and creates goodwill among different publics through Media Relations, Internal and External Communications, Publications, Events and Protocol, Corporate Identity custody and Branding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To undertake effective and efficient delivery of KenGen’s internal and external communications.
• Implement the company’s Brand Management strategy.
• Implement the department’s Communication Strategy.
• Prepare speeches and talking points to further public relations objectives.
• Day-to-day management of the company’s website.
• Coordinate the production of internal and external publications including KenGen Weekly newsletter, Energy Post Magazine, and the Annual Report.
• Media Monitoring of the coverage of the company.
• Implement and maintain corporate identity in all written communications.
• Manage corporate events such as launches, conferences and exhibitions.
• Represent the company at external engagements as may be required.
• Liaise with the various stakeholders to enhance the efficient delivery of tasks.
• Enhance working relations between the company and its key stakeholders such as players in the energy sector.
• Coordinate the marketing and advertising initiatives of the company as may be required.
• Manage photography sessions for effective internal and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate in-house dissemination of company-related news through the website and the intranet daily and manage the company’s website.
• Participate in procurement planning and budget preparation and monitoring in line with overall corporate procurement plans and budgets.
Liaise with the consultant PR Company to ensure that KenGen’s communication to the public through the media enhances the brand.
Person Specification
1. Experience of eight (8) years in a relevant field, three (3) of which at Supervisory position
2. Bachelors degree in Communications/Public Relations/ Journalism or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
3. Member of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) in good standing
4. Diploma in Communication and Media Studies is an added advantage
5. Diploma in Public Relations is an added advantage
6. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
