LAUNDRY ASSISTANT REF: TNH/HRD/LA/05/2023
Reporting to the Laundry Supervisor the successful candidate will carry out laundry
activities in the hospital in line with established procedures and standards.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Formulate washing formula for stained loads in line with established guidelines;
• Carry out the washing of linen, wears and uniform as per set standards;
• Transport linen to different sections within the hospital;
• Clean, sanitize and maintain the laundry room in line with infection control
standards;
• Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and best practice as
per the Hospital safety guidelines;
• Ensure all cleaning equipment and materials are used safely according to Health &
Safety, departmental policies and procedures;
• Keep and maintain records of all the laundry room consumables;
• Load and unload the machines during cycles;
• Clean machines, inspect and report any breakages or malfunctions to the
maintenance department;
• Ensure safety and security of the machines and the laundry room to avoid any
accidents or falls;
• Participate in stock taking;
• Sort staff uniform for appropriate action including washing and repairs;
• Fold laundry items manually or mechanically in line with requirements; and
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor
from time to time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
▪ Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations
▪ Minimum of 2 years’ laundry experience
