Africa-Re hereby announces the vacancy for the position of Assistant Information & Communication Technology Officer at the Nairobi Regional Office based in Nairobi, Kenya, at the Support Staff category.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the ICT Manager, the Assistant Information & Communication Technology Officer will be responsible for the following:
• To provide first and second-line technical hardware and software support, which are but limited to the following: installation, configuration, administration, documentation, and maintenance of desktop systems and associated equipment.
• To support as well as deputize the ICT Manager in the provision of ICT services to the business and in the management of several ICT projects, in managing all ICT infrastructures, setting & providing technical environments & developing proactive measures to prevent or eliminate disruption of service.
• To protect the integrity of the Company’s assets which are data, resources, and information.
• Making recommendations to the regional office & director of ICT on software/hardware needs.
• Full support & acceptance driven for the corporation’s core applications.
• Full implementation of a paperless environment.
• Other responsibilities assigned by the region or director of ICT.

Job Grade & Duties
DUTIES / JOB DETAILS
The incumbent will carry out the following functions:
a) Provide first and second-line technical hardware and software support, involving the installation, configuration, administration, documentation, and maintenance of systems and associated equipment (desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices)
b) Assist in-house users with all aspects of ICT facilities and resources.
c) Manage and monitor data backups.
d) Help develop and maintain ICT documentation, processes, and procedures.
e) Manage and monitor the ICT inventory.
f) Liaise with external suppliers/vendors of ICT equipment, software, and services, to ensure appropriate service, support, and guidance.
g) Participate in ICT projects, making technical input, and participating when required as a full-time project team member.
h) Keep up to date with technological changes in the ICT industry, and develop new skills in response to these, and in accordance with the Company’s ICT strategy.
i) Manage data and other information resources of the Company with the highest levels of professionalism, competence, diligence, and confidentiality.
j) Participate in developing and providing required routine and ad-hoc reports, and in developing and deploying applications, within established company policies and procedures.
k) To be courteous, patient, and tactful always, and to exercise the highest standards of customer care.
l) To take full responsibility for assignments, working largely without direct supervision, and managing and prioritizing own workload
m) To take on the lead ICT role in the absence of the ICT Manager
Location
JOB LOCATION
The successful candidate shall be initially based in Nairobi (Kenya) but could be later transferred in other geographical production centres of the Corporation.

COMPETENCIES AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Professionalism
a) Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Office 365, SharePoint, Teams
b) Basic knowledge of enterprise resource planning solutions such as Oracle E-Business Suite
c) Basic knowledge of programming in languages such as Java, ORACLE, Microsoft SQL.
d) Basic knowledge of web site and content management using HTML
e) Basic knowledge in data analysis, manipulation, and business intelligence solutions
f) Basic knowledge Server Virtualisation technology
g) Strong problem-solving skills
h) Self-motivated
i) Willingness to learn and to work long hours.
j) Ability to work under pressure, without close supervision and within established timeframes.
k) Ability to multitask and manage change.
l) Excellent problem-solving skills (i.e., conceptual, and analytical thinking).

n) Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of integrated business-related software’s will be an added advantage.

Academic Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
a) Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science/Information Technology/relevant field
b) Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in IT support/operations role
c) Additional relevant professional IT qualifications will be an added advantage.
d) Relevant Working Exposure in a Multicultural Environment will be an added advantage.
Salary & Benefits
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The successful candidate shall have the following benefits:
a) Competitive Basic Salary on the Corporation’s Support Staff Grade Level.
b) Variable Pay (Annual Performance Bonus).
c) Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the Employer).
d) Children Education Subsidy for each child up to 26 years (maximum 4 children).
e) Medical Cover for staff and family.
f) Housing Allowance.
g) Inflation Adjustment (Cost of Living Allowance), that may increase or decrease depending on the economic situation, paid in local currency.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDTATES FOR THIS POSITION
Applicants must also be:
a) Fluent in English and/or French, and having a working knowledge in the second language shall be an added advantage.
