Job Description
NARUWASCO is a wholly owned water service provider (WSP) company of the County
Government of Nakuru. We are responsible for provision of water and sanitation services
within the larger parts of Nakuru County except Nakuru City and Naivasha sub-county.
Our corporate is Potable Water and Dignified Sanitation in Every Household. To
achieve our mission, we are seeking to fill the vacant position of Technical Services
manager with customer service oriented, qualified, and experienced individual who
seeks to be part of a results-oriented team.
TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will co-ordinate, control and manage the
Company’s technical operations and maintain its infrastructure to provide Water and
sanitation Services to the required standards and in compliance with company policies
and sector regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, cost efficiency and operational excellence,
as well as ensuring compliance to the sector regulations in provisions of water and
sanitation services, you will be expected to:
o Manage all engineering works, electrical/mechanical equipment including supervising
the design, plan and construction of new water and wastewater projects,
o Oversee all activities of the technical department to ensure water quality meet set
standards and operations are free of malfunctions and wastewater meets disposal
levels before discharge to environment,
o Monitor and evaluate technical operations and recommend areas for improvement on
a continuous basis to ensure efficient service delivery,
o Develop and implement departmental policies, plans, strategies, and action plans
that are aligned to the overall Company mission and objectives.
o Manage the maintenance and repairs, installation and replacement of plant,
machinery, and other equipment, maximizing return on capital investment,
o Prepare comprehensive Departmental reports, including Engineering Budgets,
technical audit reports to facilitate decision making,
o Manage departmental staff performance, development, training and motivation for
effective performance and productivity,
o Resource mobilizations for water and wastewater management projects,
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
o Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, or related field,
o Master’s degree in engineering related field shall be an added advantage,
o Registered Engineer with EBK,
o Senior management course of not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution.
o Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and
Integrity.
o 10 years engineering work experience, preferably in the Water and Sanitation sector
or related field with at least 5 years at Senior Management Level,
o Demonstrated Project Management & Planning experience and of managing external
consultants, partners, and donors,
o Proven people management experience: managing a large work force will be a
definite advantage,
TERMS OF SERVICE:
This position is on a 5 Year Renewable Contract based on satisfactory performance.
