ACCOUNTANT I, JOB GROUP CPSB 09/’K’ (7 POSTS)

Basic Salary: Kshs. 38,270x1,470 - 39,740x1,520 - 41,260x1,710 - 42,970x1,920 - 44,890x2,000 - 46,890x2,110 - 49,000x2,170 - 51,170p.m
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be required to deal with accounting operations in departments and other County entities. Work at this level will be subjected to occasional checks rather than close supervision. Specifically, work will involve:-
i.Verification of vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations;
ii.Data capture, maintenance of primary records such as cashbooks, ledgers, vote books, registers and preparation of simple management reports e.g. imprest and expenditure returns etc.;
iii.Safe custody of Government records and assets under him/her, and may be deployed where duties will entail receiving duly processed payments and receipt vouchers;
iv.Writing cheques and posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books;
v.Balancing and ruling of the cash books on daily basis; and
vi.Preparation of expenditure and Authority to Incur Expenditure (AIE) funding returns.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
i.Served as Accountant II, Job Group CPSB 10/‘J’ for a minimum period of three (3) years; and
ii.Passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination;
OR
iii.A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option), Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognized institution or any other relevant equivalent qualification;
iv.Certificate in Computer Applications; and
v.Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
