Job Description

i. General
Job Title: Switchboard Operator
Division: Administration
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Business Development Manager
Reporting into
this Role:
None

Job Purpose: To ensure that communications and entertainment services
are available at all times.

ii. Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensuring that all Hospital telephones, radio and SMS communication is available at all
times.
• Ensuring that the entertainment system is up and running showing all prescribed
channels are available.
• Ensuring that the assigned Hospital keys are in kept safely and only authorized persons
have access.
• Ensuring proper records of key movement for all Hospital keys in assigned to the
Communications section.
• Ensuring that all calls to the switch board are answered courteously within the first three
rings.
• Ensuring that all calls picked are resolved or forwarded in the most efficient manner to
another extension where help will be offered.
• Ensuring that all calls booked are made and forwarded to the caller most efficiently.
• Ensuring that bills for all external calls are produced and circulated monthly.
• Ensuring that all radio calls are answered within the first call.
• Monitoring security and fire alarms raised and or assigned and call for relevant help.
• Managing and escalating any telephone, radio, PABX or entertainment problems from
internal clients.
• Any other duty from time to time.

1. Education
• Diploma in communications or telephone operations.
2. Job Experience
• 1-year experience in Telephone Operations.
