REF: TUR/CPSB/030/2023/2024: DEPUTY DIRECTOR PEACE BUILDING &
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, JOB GROUP “Q”, (1) POST,
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Director, Peace Building and Conflict
Management.
Duties and Responsibilities will entail:-
(i) Ensures citizens are inculcated to move from a culture of reaction to prevention of conflict
and initiate strategies that address more immediate as well as deep rooted cultural course of
conflict resolution and enhance continuous harmony and peaceful community existence;
(ii) Monitor and report promptly incidents of conflict within area of operation and cross borders
along areas of operation;
(iii) Address and report such cases of incidences to the relevant authorities for appropriate action
to be undertaken accordingly;
(iv) Organize and conduct inter and intra community peace building meetings in sub counties
and mobilize key leaders, women, youth, peace committee members and other stakeholders
to participate in such peace building initiatives;
(v) Initiate and mainstream pro-active programmes that are strategically geared towards peace
building and conflict management;
(vi) Bring together all relevant actors to marshal resources and to advice on and propose
integrate strategies for peace building and conflict resolutions;
(vii) Develop an inter-agency capacity for conflict prevention and peace building at various level
in your areas of operation;
(viii) Employ and effectively support mediation effort in order to head-off potential crisis and
consequent conflict at an early and manageable stage;
(ix) Monitor the local socio-political development and advice on conflict prevention,
management and peace building initiative respectively;
(x) Engage in peace building talks, crisis diplomacy and mainstream them pro-actively;
(xi) Assist in monitoring security situation in mapped conflict zones and inform relevant county
security agencies for any potential risk and timely remedial action;
(xii) Conduct ad-hoc training in peace building for residents in conflict prone zones;
(xiii) Prepare quarterly and annual reports on peace building initiative/programmes from the
respective region;
(xiv) Liaise with sub county administrator, ward administrator and other stakeholders to monitor
and respond to conflict incidences;
(xv) Perform any other duty assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment:
i. Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
Institution.
ii. At least 5 years’ experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, or relevant field.
iii. Must have demonstrated high- level leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
iv. Experience with project design, management, implementation and monitoring and
evaluation.
v. Demonstrated experience effectively working with local government structures, senior
government officials, civil society actors, private sector entities, and development partners.
vi. Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse teams and building partnerships.
vii. Demonstrated experience with community mobilization and empowerment, and multistakeholder engagement and negotiations.
viii. Demonstrated commitment to gender integration, social inclusion, and building social
cohesion.
ix. Strong administrative and organization skills, commitment, attention to detail and strong
forward planning skills
x. Hands on approach to work, with the ability to deliver on deadlines in a fast-paced and fastchanging environment, with minimal or no supervision
