LIBRARIAN, KNEC GRADE 7 (1 POST)
a) Job Specifications
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
(i) Indexing and abstracting books, journals and other library resource materials;
(ii) Operating Current Awareness Service (CAS);
(iii) Conducting information searches from electronic databases;
(iv) Editing of reports, newsletters and other publications;
(v) Selecting and acquiring information in consultation with researchers and other
professionals;
(vi) Managing information materials such as books, periodicals, video cassettes, audiotapes, computer databases and CD-ROM, micro-filmed materials and other relevant
documents;
(vii) Assisting in Networking of Information Services, Libraries and Information Centres.
(xvi) Developing and managing communities of practice for staff and stakeholders;
(viii) Creating and maintaining the Counci’s repository;
(ix) Developing and knowledge maintaining the Council’s management system.
b) Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Library Studies, Information
Science, or other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
(ii) Demonstrated merit in work performance;
(iii) Proficiency in computer application;
(iv) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution only for the successful
applicants.
