REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR AFRICA
We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills and management experience to lead the Africa Division of BirdLife International to deliver high quality services to enable the BirdLife Partnership to make a tangible contribution to protecting and restoring nature in the region.
Location
Nairobi, Kenya. We will consider other locations within the region for the right candidate and subject to the ability to employ from that location.

BirdLife International – the largest nature conservation organisation in the world – is looking for an experienced, dynamic Regional Director to provide strategic leadership across the Africa Division.
BirdLife International is a partnership of national grass root conservation organisations present in over 100 countries and territories. BirdLife International strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. BirdLife’s unique local-to-global approach enables us to deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills and management experience to lead the Africa Division of BirdLife International to deliver high quality services to enable the BirdLife Partnership to make a tangible contribution to protecting and restoring nature in the region. This person will be responsible for leading regional conservation work in line with the BirdLife strategy and programmes. They will facilitate fundraising for our common work and promote joint initiatives and represent BirdLife in the region.
Key requirements:
• Good knowledge of international conservation and sustainable development, and understanding of the challenges in biodiversity conservation and in civil society development across Africa
• Proven track record of successfully leading a regional team of professionals within a global organisation
• Demonstrable experience in strategic planning and organisational management
• Strong collaboration, networking and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence.
The Regional Director provides input into the global strategy, programmes and policies of BirdLife International, and as part of the Senior Management Team, is a member of the decision-making body of BirdLife’s Global Secretariat.
