PROGRAMME OFFICER, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT, JOB
GRADE NCIC 6 - ONE (1) POST
Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for offering support and assistance in the implementation of educational, training and capacity building programs aimed at creating public awareness and promoting good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence between persons of different ethnic and racial communities of Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
i. Implementing policies, guidelines and strategies on public education and engagement;
ii. Conducting advocacy campaigns and activities on issues affecting ethnic relations;
iii. Collecting and collating information on activities that promote elimination of all forms of discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, religious, cultural, linguistic and other forms of diversity in a plural society;
iv. Taking part in assessing training needs for specific targeted group on public education and engagement;
v. Taking part in organizing and implementing of training programmes and activities on public awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmonious co-existence among ethnic communities and racial groups;
vi. Collecting information and developing ie materials on public awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmonies co-existence among ethnic communities and racial groups;
vii. Taking part in championing activities that discourage persons and institutions, from advocating or promoting discrimination or discriminatory practices on the ground of ethnicity or race; and
viii. Taking part in sensitizing programmes and activities that promote tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity in all aspects of national life and encourage full participation by all ethnic communities in the social, economic, cultural and political life of other communities.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
i. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, Criminology, Sociology, International Relations, Law, Conflict Resolution and Humanitarian Assistance, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
ii. Certificate in computer application skills.
Salary and allowances
Salary range : Ksh. 56,775 - 80,000
House allowance : Ksh. 28,000
Commuter allowance : Ksh. 10,000
Airtime allowance : Ksh. 1,500
