Purpose of the job
Leading and managing spiritual nurturing of students and staff, while coordinating
religious activities for the institution, counseling, mentorship and pastoral care needs of
staff, faculty, and students to achieve the University’s vision
Requirements
▪ Be a holder of Masters’ degree in Theology or its equivalent from a reputable
University
▪ Must have demonstrable pastoral training
▪ Must be an ordained Minister in a recognized Bible believing Church
▪ Must have served as a Pastor or equivalent position for at least seven years
▪ Teaching experience of at least five (5) years at university level or equivalent
Responsibilities
▪ Implementing the departmental strategy in line with overall strategy, policies,
processes, and procedures to achieve the institution’s objectives
▪ Leading and overseeing the practice in spiritual discipline
▪ Leading and initiating support operations of the spiritual nurture programs in the
university including semester calendar of activities.
▪ Coordinating and carrying out spiritual counselling in the university
▪ Coordinating discipleship and spiritual nurture programs for the University
including small group Bible studies for students and staff
▪ Overseeing the organization of outreach, missions, pastoral care and visitations
and reporting
▪ Representing the University in churches, religious organizations, and other
consultative meetings
▪ Providing and maintaining reports and administrative data for chapel and small
group Bible study attendance
▪ Identifying, implementing, and benchmarking best practices in the Chaplaincy
and spiritual matters
▪ Preparing, monitoring, and reporting of the section budgetary allocations
▪ Responsible for talent management in the department including coaching,
mentoring, developing, motivating, training, and evaluating staff to achieve
highest levels of performance
▪ Leading and managing the Chaplaincy communication to the community
▪ Leading in Christian behaviour and appropriate behaviour both internal and
external in line with the institutions vision.
▪ Managing and implementing change initiatives to achieve desired university
plans and culture
