Job Description
Requirement for Appointment
i) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or Cooperative Management from a university recognized in Kenya;
ii) Masters’ Degree in relevant field will be added advantage
iii) A minimum of Seven (7) years’ relevant experience, Three (3) years of which must have been in a senior management level in an institution either in public or private sector
iv) A member of any of the following professional bodies:-Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
v) Having undergone management and leadership course of not less than four weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
vi) Successful applicant to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
vii) Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibit a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to the co-operative audit function.
Duties and Responsibilities
i) Carrying out audit and Certify annual accounts for co-operative societies’ accounts or cooperatives institutions
ii) Undertaking cooperative risk assessment within the county
iii) Provides assurance on Co-operative Development and Marketing policy formulation,
iv) Planning, organizing, directing, co-coordinating and controlling the Co-operative Audit Services.
v) Provide assurance on documenting and controlling the adequacy of cooperatives societies internal control systems including computer and providing remedial Advice
vi) Setting and maintaining professional audit standards for Co-operative Audit;
vii) Develop and issue co-operative audit manuals and guidelines;
viii) Over side continuous and compliance audit; registering audited societies’ accounts;
ix) Overseeing finances and assets management of the department;
x) Perform any other audit duties as may be assigned.
