POSITION: CRITICAL CARE NURE JOB GROUP CPSB 08 (RE-
ADVERTISEMENT)
Number of Posts: Eleven (11) Posts
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 42,970 - Kshs. 59,120 p.m.
Other Allowances: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations
Commission
Requirements for Appointment
1) Be a Kenyan citizen;
2) Have a Diploma in Kenyan Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya
Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and
Psychiatry from a recognized institution;
3) Be in possession of a Higher Diploma in the Critical Care nursing;
4) Have a registration certificate issued by The Nursing Council of Kenya;
5) Have a valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and,
6) Have certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
1) Managing patients requiring critical care;
2) Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions, evaluating and
documenting patient’s outcomes;
3) Evaluate patients’ vital signs and laboratory data to determine emergency
intervention needs;
4) Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors,
mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, and
pressure lines;
5) Providing health education and counselling patients/clients and community on
identified health needs;
6) Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans;
7) Maintaining records on patients /client’s health condition and care; and,
8) Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment.
