Chief Superintending Engineer (Water Supply and Sewerage)- JG P (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities:-
- Will be responsible for overall management, coordination, reporting on water
infrastructure projects
- Assist in Preparation and execution of annual work plans and activity specific schedules
- Carrying out research activities in various aspects of water, sewerage and hydraulic
systems,
- Ensuring professional standards and undertaking quality control during construction of
water supply and sewerage infrastructure,
- Supervision of construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure and ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Contracts, state of the art technical construction supervision and quality assurance procedures, monitoring and evaluating physical and financial progress of development projects and
programs,
- Carrying out feasibility studies, planning , Detailed design of all water supply and
Sewerage infrastructure, including hydraulic design of water supply transmission and
distribution pipe networks, dams and irrigation schemes; water treatment plan, operations buildings and other ancillary facilities; pump stations and storage tanks
- Preparation of Projects designs and tender documents including drafting of
prequalification documents, conditions of contract, instruction to bidders, bills of
quantities, drawings and specifications
- Assist in the tendering process of water infrastructure projects including but not limited
to pre bid site visit, clarification to bidders and bid evaluation
- Assist Procurement Officer during contracts negotiations with successful bidders or any
other bidders who subsequently are invited to negotiate a contract on the request of the
County Officer
- Preparation of contracts and payment certificates
- Oversee Maintenance of water supply and Sewerage infrastructure
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time by the CEC Member, Chief
Officer and/or Water Director
Requirements for Appointment:-
- Must be a Water Engineer by profession with a degree in Water Engineering , Civil
Engineering , Water and Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution of
higher Learning
- Must have at least 5-6 years of post qualification progressive working experience in
planning, design and executing water supply and Sewerage schemes ,development and
project management with some knowledge in both sanitation and irrigation
- Must be knowledgeable in planning and design of water supply and Sewerage programs and projects , particularly water pipelines, Dams and Water Pans
- Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Engineering soft ware (Autocard, etc)
- Must be knowledgeable about sustainability issues in relation to community water
projects
- A Master Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant field from a recognised institution is an
added advantage.
- be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer;
- be a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
