1. Assess, plan implement nursing interventions and evaluate patients’ outcome.
2. Prepare and perform several procedures such as dressing wounds and provide first aid to patients in case of emergencies.
3. Responsible for checking and updating the observation chart, nurse notes, pressure charts, drugs administration records and fluid charts for patient care.
4. Do the ward rounds with the doctor, ensuring adequate knowledge of patient to prove accurate information.
5. Monitor patients vital signs and general health
6. Take part in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency preparedness
7. Ensure a tidy and safe clinical environment to enhance good work environment.
8. Administer prescribed medicine to the patient as per doctor’s prescription.
9. Ensure appropriate referral of patients in cases that require advanced treatment.
10. Ensure proper disposal of used tools such as syringes and medicine to mitigate accidents.
11. Provide health education and counselling to clients / patients on identified health needs.
12. Refer patient and clients in consultation with the doctor to other hospitals for specialized care as appropriate.
13. Facilitate patients investigation and document as per doctors orders
14. Maintain records on patients / clients health condition and care for future reference and continuity of care.
15. Care of medical equipment in the ward
16. Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans.
17. Responsible for students discipline while in the clinical area.
18. Provide advice and emotional support to the patient’s family members.
19. Maintain good relationship with the community, the rest of the clinical team and the other departments in the facility
20. Ensuring a safe environment for care of critical patients.
21. Ensures complete handover at the end of shift
22. Ensure drugs do not expire in the wards.

Qualifications
1. Be a Kenyan Citizen.
2. Be a holder of a Diploma in KRCHN from KMTC OR other institution recognized by NCK Enrollment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
3. Possess valid practicing License from Nursing Council of Kenya.
4. Proficient in computer applications
5. Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Attention to details.
7. Able to deal with confidential information and follow set processes
