WEIGHTS AND MEASURES OFFICER[II], JOB GROUP ‘J’ (CPSB 10) – THREE
(3) POSTS
Salary scale: Ksh. 31,270 x 1,300 – 32,570 x 1,380 – 33,950 x 1,390 – 35,340 x 1,460 – 36,800 x 1,470 – 38,270 x 1,470 – 39,740 x 1,520 – 41,260 p.m.
Terms of Employment: Permanent and Pensionable
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced
officer. Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
(i) testing and stamping mechanical and electronic weighing and measuring
equipment;
(ii) Collecting data on verified equipment at traders premises, stamping stations and
verification office,
(iii)Sampling pre-packaged goods for quantitative analysis and preparing testing
equipment for inspection and investigation purposes;
(iv)Preparing weighing measures equipment during trade fairs and exhibition;
(v) Giving evidence in court on cases arising from infringement of the Weights and
Measures Act (Cap 513) and Trade Description Act (Cap 505).
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
i. Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines; Physics, Mathematics, Legal
Metrology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution; and
ii. Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution.
iii. Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
