REF: TUR/CPSB/053/2022/2023; AUDIT COMMITTEE MEMBERS; POSITIONS:
FOUR (4) MEMBERS.
a) Requirements for Appointment
1. Minimum of a degree from a recognized University in the following fields, Accounting,
Finance, Auditing, Economics, Risk management or other related fields
2. Be a citizen of Kenya
3. Have a good understanding of county government operations, financial reporting or
auditing
4. Have a good understanding of the objects, principles and functions of the county
government
5. Meet the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
6. Membership of the following professional bodies will be an added advantage: ICPAK,
ICPSK, ACFE, IIA or any other relevant body
7. Have the requisite business and leadership skills and shall not be a political office holder
b. Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the committee members shall be:
i. Provide an independent review of the County Government reporting functions to ensure
the integrity of financial reports.
ii. Monitor the effectiveness of the County Government performance management and
performance information:
iii. Provide effective liaison and facilitate communication between the management and
external auditors
iv. Provide oversight of the implementation of accepted audit recommendations
v. Ensure effectiveness of both internal and external audit processes.
vi. The Audit Committee shall report to the Governor
