The Society is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:
Position Title: Community Health /Outreach Coordinator (1 Position)
Reporting to: Health Services Coordinator
Job Location: Dadaab
Overall Purpose
Community Health Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical support and capacity building of the national technical staff and refugee incentive workers towards successful planning and implementation of activities related to community health. The Community Health Coordinator will play a vital role of coordination with key stakeholders to address the community health related issues in the camp.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Programme Management
• Management of day to day operations and efficient coordination of community health activities.
• Ensure the implementation of the community health program conforms to internationally accepted standards and national guidelines
• Provide technical guidance to national technical staff and refugee incentive workers on the planning and implementation of the community health program.
• Provide technical leadership and support in conducting mass campaigns in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and UN agencies.
• Establish a plan of action for all community health activities to include monitoring and evaluation.
• Support the development of project annual work plans in coordination with the project teams.
Finance/ Grants management
• Prepare budgets and proposals for community health activities
• Recommend grant and budget revisions to the relevant supervisors
• Ensure adherence to budgets by reviewing expenditure and spending patterns.
Communication and Reporting
Ensure weekly, monthly and quarterly program reports on the community health activities are prepared and shared, whilst ensuring continuous monitoring of community based indicators.
Minimum qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Public Health / Environmental Health.
• Masters degree in Public health/Environmental Health will be an added advantage.
• Membership Certificate/Licence from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council.
• Three (3) years working experience in planning, implementing and evaluating community health programmes in a busy set up either with MoH or INGO.
• Work experience in Camp setting will be an added advantage.

• Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation skills.
• Should be a team player and culturally sensitive.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and utilization of the internet.
• Demonstrate ability of proposal/budget making and grant management.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Strong leadership, team building, conflict resolution and ability to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives.
• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.
