The Systems Administrator - Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) at Presbyterian
University of East Africa (PUEA) will develop and maintain Moodle LMS System for
University and ensure appropriate use of the E-learning system in line with the University’s
policies and regulations. He/she will also work with ICT team to address the normal ICT user
support requests.
Requirements for Appointment
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, software engineering or related field
with 5 years of related work experience with advanced Moodle use and ICT support with
a minimum 3 years of experience working in a higher education context;
• A certification in Training will be an added advantage;
• At least 5 years’ experience in LMS management from a university setup or recognized
academic institution or a related field;
• Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Dynamics Navision and
CRM will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator - Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) shall be responsible for
and perform functions which include but not limited to the following:
System and technology management
• Maintain and develop the LMS, in partnership with the ICT and ODeL team.
• Provide helpdesk support including responding to calls and emails from system users;
• Help users to navigate and get the most out of the LMS, including being a point of
contact on how to access courses, resources and live reporting;
• Continuously strive to promote better user experience of LMS content, staying on top of
technical and operational trends in LMS improvements;
• Maintain course content by working with course developers to ensure information is
current;
• Create, configure and edit learning content in the LMS;
• Create and maintain templates and technical how-to guides in the LMS;
• Actively identify and resolve system bugs, defects and issues as they arise and/or
develop recommendations for improvement.
• Act as a conduit between ICT, design teams and staff with queries.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate Supervisor;
