Instructional Designer (One Position)
Description
Daystar University is seeking a full-time instructional designer with experience in online teaching
and course design. This position will support the design and development of learner-centered online
course experiences through content conversion, video editing and the selection/incorporation of
other educational technology tools in Daystar University’s LMSs-Moodle and e360.
The instructional designer will work in conjunction with subject matter experts and the ODeL Centre,
to create meaningful coursework with a focus on asynchronous learning, interactive e-learning,
multimedia production, screencasts, simulation, self-paced coursework and resource materials. In
addition, the instructional designer will review existing online courses for quality, consistency of
design and academic rigor. The instructional designer will curate and produce training materials
to assist faculty in enhancing online teaching and learning with the use of instructional technology,
including video production.
The candidate must exhibit extensive knowledge of relevant technologies and the principles and
theories of adult learning. Teaching experience is preferred, as is a familiarity with Moodle and e360.
Requirements:
• Christian commitment and practice
• Master’s degree in instructional design, curriculum/ instructional development, instructional
technology, educational technology or a related field
• At least two (2) years experience in instructional design
• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is preferred.
• Expertise with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Google
Sheets
• Must be familiar with video-capturing and editing technology.
• Experience with Zoom, Teams, and other video cloud forms are a plus.
• Experience with course design and instruction within an LMS is required.
• Effective problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Experience in Teaching is an added advantage.
• Have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to work
with staff with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on the use of technology in a variety of
learning capacities.
• Experience with project management and effective time management, especially as it relates
to the prioritization of multiple tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Design, user testing and evaluation of courses that are interactive, engaging and provide a
compelling learner experience.
• Provide pedagogic advice, guidance, encouragement and support regarding the design and
construction of online programs and course content.
• Provide effective strategies for online education, based on at least 2 years of prior online
teaching/design.
• Has in-depth knowledge of learning and instructional theories and their applications.
• Has an interest in and knowledge of emerging educational technologies.
• Provide research solutions and respond promptly and clearly to faculty throughout the
troubleshooting process.
• Develop learning objects that are compatible with specifications of Daystar University’s
learning management system and troubleshoot issues in compatibility.
• Keeps open, timely, and consistent communication with the supervisor and content expert.
