Job Requirement
• Masters of Dental Surgery in Paediatric dentistry or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
• Specialist recognition certificate from the Medical Practitioners’ and Dentist Council.
• Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Retention in the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council register;
• Professional Indemnity Cover.
• Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Job Description
A paediatric dentist will be responsible for diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of complex dental and maxillofacial conditions affecting children.
Duties and responsibilities

• Diagnosis and management of complex oral, cranio maxillofacial diseases and conditions, to prescribe appropriate investigations and formulate treatment plans Providing wholesome patient care in the specialty
• Participating in the multidisciplinary management of patients
• Performing surgical procedures that include minor oral surgery, surgical oncology, trauma surgery, craniofacial surgery (congenital and developmental anomalies) reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery
• Harnessing current technologies in healthcare e.g. Artificial intelligence AI, tele dentistry and innovative measures
• Management of infections in the oral, cranio maxillofacial and neck regions.
• Diagnosing and treating dental conditions in children, including cavities and infections
• Formulating and Explaining treatment processes and procedures to parents or guardians to ensure they understand the dentist’s recommendations
• Handling emergencies such as dental trauma caused by accidents or abuse
• Performing dental exams and X-rays to identify potential problems with teeth and gums
• Managing children with special needs including taking them to theatre for comprehensive treatment.
• Supervise, teach and offer leadership to dental officers, interns and other members of the dental team
• Harnessing and driving towards use of technology e.g Intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM and tele dentistry in management of patients
• Determining whether a child’s teeth need to be cleaned or if cavities need to be filled
• Participating in community outreaches to children to educate children and their guardians on proper oral hygiene techniques to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, including proper healthy nutrition practices
• Offer community education and advocacy on dental fluorosis prevention
• Providing leadership for inclusion of oral health in school programmes.
• Participating in multi-disciplinary cases
• Any other duties as may be assigned.
