ASSISTANT DIRECTOR COOPERATIVE AUDIT – JOB GROUP CPSB 05 (P) - (1
POST)
This position will facilitate realization of vibrant co-operative sector,
observing tenets, good cooperate governance & solving financial
management issues. This job is responsible for maintaining standardization
& scrutiny of audits in the division.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• In charge of staff in audit; verifying & compiling final audit
reports/queries on societies financial statements, directing &
monitoring audit inspections of societies records, developing,
preparing & reviewing audit programs & work plans for the
section/audit region, preparing annual audit reports
• Problem solving & decision making; documenting & evaluating the
adequacy of co-operative societies internal control systems including
computer system & providing remedial advise.
• Risk management; verifying the accuracy & disclosures in societies'
financial statements
• Ensures timely accurate economic reports for decision making
• Participates in the budget process for the section
• Identify issues or problems and make routine decisions.
• Provide overall leadership in support of the department and
identification of other business opportunities.
• Providing first-line advice and guidance, typically of a more technical
/specialized nature to customers/clients.
• Formulates distinctive strategies emphasizing high level of creating
thinking.
• Formulation of co-operative audit operating guidelines
• Carrying inspections & inquiries on financial affairs management of
cooperative societies
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business
Administration, Mathematics, Statistics or Co-operative Management and
Economics a recognized University.
• Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Kenya Part III or Certified Internal
Auditors (CIA) Part IV or Certified Fraud Examiners from a recognized
institution
• Member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya (ICPAK), Institute
of Internal Auditors Kenya (IIA-K), or Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
Kenya (ACFE Kenya Chapter)
• Must have served in the grade of Principal Co-operative Auditor or
equivalent position or experience of not less than Eight (8) years in a related
area within the Public Service of Private Sector.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Constitution of Kenya 2010,
County Government Act of 2012 etc.
• Knowledge of the Cooperative Societies Act, 2012
• Strong Leadership, Communication, Interpersonal and Organizational skills
• Ability to build and lead cohesive teams
• Satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
