Job Purpose
This position is responsible for configuration, maintenance and support of Commission computer
systems and servers in addition to securing the ICT infrastructure against internal/external attacks.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks
I. Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

II. Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
(i) Responsible for maintaining and administering the data center’s networks including but not
limited to, the delivery of network planning, design, implementation & optimization services;
(ii) Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast
of developments in the networking industry;
(iii) Configure, Install and support Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks(WANs),
network segments, Internet, and intranet systems to ensure that network performance
issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency are in compliance with the
signed service level agreements;
(iv) Responsible for maintenance, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems,
network servers and virtualization;
(v) Monitoring and maintaining network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways and intrusion
detection systems;
(vi) Responsible for capacity, storage planning and database performance;
(vii) Configure, enforce and maintain both logical and physical controls are adhered to as per the
Commission ICT and information security policy;
(viii) Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities
and automate repeatable tasks in the data center;
(ix) Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices;
(x) Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions to avert system
compromise by ensuring that all systems within the commission are Secure;
(xi) Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures, such as firewalls, password policies
and intrusion detections systems;
(xii) Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware,
server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and
verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups;
(xiii) Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data
protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures;
(xiv) Updating Operating Systems and application software’s, along with executing the policies
for the use of the computer systems and networks;
(xv) Deploy Operating System patches and upgrades on a regular basis;
(xvi) Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary;
(xvii) Prepare user requirements specifications for both hardware and software in accordance to
the Commission standards;
(xviii) Provide day to day technical support to end users;
(xix) Provide feedback to enhance business processes and initiate process improvement; and
(xx) Develop individual work plans, monitor own performance and seek requisite support to
ensure delivery of agreed targets.

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).
Academic qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Business Information Technology
or Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized university
Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
(i) Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or
Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) or Certified UNIX Administrator and any
additional relevant ICT certifications.
(ii) Membership to relevant professional body.
Previous relevant work experience required.
Six (6) years of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization.
