Role Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Officer will be responsible for protecting the Sacco’s ICT assets by establishing and enforcing system controls and maintaining disaster recovery preparedness. Enforcing Infrastructure and System Security controls as per ICT Policy and internationally recognized standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the installation, maintenance, and upgrading of hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, printers, and other peripherals.
• Configure and maintain network systems, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of our data and systems by implementing and maintaining appropriate security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
• Monitor and manage system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
• Provide technical support to staff, troubleshoot, and resolve IT issues.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure quality service delivery.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in IT infrastructure and security.
Essential Skills and Key Attributes
• Computer/IT Skills, including knowledge of Microsoft office application e.g. Word; Excel; PowerPoint etc.
• Knowledge of network and systems administration, including Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience in configuring and maintaining network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with security tools and techniques, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong project management skills.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and security in the Sacco/Financial Industry.
• Certifications such as CCNA, Sophos Certified Engineer, API Security Architect, Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate, Network Security Expert Certification, NSE3 Network Security Associate etc.
• Minimum of KCSE Grade C+.
• Must be aged between 25 – 45 years.
