Assistant Director of Trade, Job Group ‘P’ (1 Post)
i) Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Analyzing economic and trade data and reports;
2. Disseminating business information;
3. Facilitating trade promotion activities;
4. Conducting surveys and mapping of various business activities;
5. Sensitizing the business community on sources of credit available to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs);
6. Promoting entrepreneurial venture creation, growth, development and graduation Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs);
7. Providing training, consultancy and extension services on trade issues;
8. Monitoring and analysing price and supply trends of essential commodities in the domestic market;
9. Administering the Nyandarua County Trade Fund and Joint Loan Board (JLB) Scheme;
10. Providing information on government policies for trade promotion and development and managing business information and solution centres;
11. Identify the business opportunities in the domestic market;
12. Undertake research and carry out market intelligence for trade development;
13. Monitor the impact of trade practices;
14. Advise Development Committees on trade matters;
15. Prepare periodic field reports and returns on trade activities;
16. Promote public-private sector partnerships;
17. Carrying out inspection of County Trade Fund and Joint Loan Board (JLB) activities and preparing reports;
18. Mobilize the business community to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions;
19. Prepare background papers and briefs on trade issues;
20. Undertake intra and inter departmental liaison on trade matters for trade development; and
21. Prepare the Development Plan chapter relating to domestic trade in the County Development Plan administration
ii) Requirement for Appointment
1. At least Eight (8) years relevant experience
2. Must be a serving officer in Nyandarua County Public Service
3. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Trade/Business/Relations, Project Management, Community Development or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
4. A Masters degree in any of the above stated field of study ; and
5. Demonstrated professional competencies and outstanding administrative and managerial capability in trade development services;
