SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER– (KET 5) ONE (1 POSITION) REF: KET/5/1C/40/111/VOL II –
B ON PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE TERMS
Reporting to the Manager, Research & Knowledge Management
Job purpose
This Job is responsible for undertaking quality research undertakings to generate solution to
company’s challenges, knew knowledge, ideas and innovations as well as exploring
opportunities for business growth.
Key Responsibilities;
i. Coordinating all research undertakings in the company in relations to the
Company’s mandate;
ii. Designing research studies on electricity transmission;
iii. Coordinating development of the company statistical database;
iv. Preparing joint research funding concepts with the collaborating institutions for
research resource mobilization
v. Coordinating, supporting, and undertaking research activities by various
Directorates/Divisions/departments;
vi. Coordinating development of the Company Resource Centre;
vii. Coordinating all company research publications and dissemination
viii. Developing annual Research and Development and work plans and budget
estimates
ix. Developing and review of R&D work plan, agenda and proposals;
x. Organizing research event on electricity transmission matters within the company
xi. Participate in development and review of the company Research and
Development Policy
xii. Initiating partnerships and collaboration with research institutions, universities and
power industry stakeholders for R&D development;
xiii. Supervising research team members on daily basis to complete research projects
within deadlines.
xiv. Ensuring that all R&D intellectual property rights are duly registered as Company’s
properties;
xv. Preparing research Reporting to the the the Research and Development
Coordination Committee;
xvi. Guiding research officers in undertaking research activities
Qualifications & Skills required
i). A Bachelor’s degree in Research Methods/Statistics/Business Studies or related field
from a recognized institution
ii). Good understanding of research analytical tools such as STATA, SPSS, EVIEWS among
others;
iii). A minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS

ii). A detailed Curriculum Vitae indicating current and previous employers, positions
held, level of education, current and expected salary, notice period required to take
up appointment and names of at least three professional referees;

Clearance Certificates : -
a) Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
b) Valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
c) Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
d) Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
e) Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
