Job Description

Reporting To: General Manager Office Location: Gelian Hotel, Machakos
Background:
Gelian Hotel is a four-star hotel located at the center of Machakos town. It is also a sister Hotel to Semara Hotel. Semara Hotel is located in Machakos, Mwatu wa Ngoma Street opposite Machakos County Commissioner Office. We are seeking highly motivated, honest and dedicated team player to join our growing business

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Schedule and assign work to housekeeping staff, ensuring adequate coverage of all areas at all times.
2. Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-the-house areas regularly to ensure they meet established standards of cleanliness and orderliness.
3. Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, taking any necessary corrective action.
4. Ensure that lost and found items are properly logged, stored, and returned to guests in a timely manner.
5. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and linens, ordering new supplies as needed.
6. Train new housekeeping staff members on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and use of equipment.
7. Monitor timekeeping and attendance records for housekeeping staff, approving time off requests in accordance with company policy.
8. Come up with strategies to make accommodation more enticing to clients
9. Ensure the hotel in general remains impeccably clean all the time
10. Ensure all festive seasons decorations are done to standard, in good time and in a cost effective way
11. Conduct performance reviews for housekeeping staff members on a regular basis.
12. Handle employee discipline issues in accordance with company policy.
13. Participate in the interviewing and hiring of new housekeeping staff members.
14. Plan and oversee special projects as needed, such as deep cleaning or event preparation.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience as a housekeeping manager in a 4* hotel.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
• Up-to-date with latest housekeeping trends and best practices.
• Thorough knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
