Position Brief: The Union seeks a skilled mill manager with good business decision making ability to carry out milling, grading, quality analysis, farmer training, implementation, budget preparation, marketing, and ensuring maximum mill productivity and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Initiation and implementation of policies and strategies to achieve the coffee mill mission, vision and objectives on administration, costs, human resources and mill operations.
•Ensuring smooth operations in receiving, milling, storing, and dispatching coffee, while also planning manpower to expedite the delivery of coffee to the mill.
Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in milling, such as regulators, buyers, and suppliers.
Securing the premises and its coffee stocks and insuring against potential loss and deterioration.
• Ensuring strict adherence to quality, health, and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and meet environmental quality tests.
•Providing technical mentorship and support to managers of primary producer co-operatives to address coffee quality issues.
Collaborate with government agencies, county governments, the Ministry of Agriculture, and cooperatives to promote the coffee mill's mission through industry initiatives and partnerships.
•Ensuring the mill attain/retain majority market share in the region through farmer incentives, recruitment/mobilization of field officers and others supportive programs.
Management of coffee marketing both locally and internationally through collaboration with other actors in the value chain.
Skills, Competencies and Experience.
The office holder will be required to have the following skills, attributes and competencies:
A bachelor's degree in business-related field, preferably in cooperatives management, agribusiness, accounting/finance, Economics, Business, and administration, and 5 years of senior management experience in a coffee sub-sector preferably in a milling plant. Hold a valid Coffee liquorer License.
Good leadership and people management skills.
