Job Description
Requirements for Appointment
i. Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Planning and Management, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science; Biochemistry, Natural Science, Community Development, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
ii. Proficiency in computer applications
iii. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Environmental inspections and environmental incident management;
ii. Receiving, dispatching, and reviewing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Audits (EA) Reports;
iii. Notification of EIA reports due for reviewing and processing of licenses;
iv. Receiving and dispatching applications for various Licensing regimes;
v. Mobilizing the public to participate in environmental conservation and management;
vi. Assisting County Governments in developing the necessary capacity for environmental management; vii. Coordinating community environmental activities;
viii. Monitoring the state of terrestrial ecosystems on a regular basis, rapid assessment and inventory of terrestrial ecosystems, creation and updating of environmental data bases;
ix. Collecting and collating information for the development of integrated management plans;
x. Compiling progress reports; xi. Implementing relevant Multi-lateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and donor funded projects;
xii. Liaising with lead agencies, NGOs, and the public in environmental management of terrestrial ecosystems;
xiii. Implementing programs to address climate change, air quality, and desertification,
xiv. Identifying and verifying appropriate measures to prevent pollution and environmental degradation.
