About the Institute:
The Kenya BioVax Institute is a State Corporation tasked with the manufacturing, packaging and commercialization of specialized Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) that include vaccines, therapeutics and other biomedical products.
Job Purpose:
Handle capacity planning, evaluate the database server engine, and manage all aspects of a database including installation, configuration, design, and data migration.
Additionally, undertake performance monitoring, security, backups, troubleshooting, and data recovery.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Business Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
2. Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Analyse, design, code, test, implement computer programs; provide user support;
2. Maintain support systems and training of users;
3. Configuring of new information communication technology equipment;
4. Participate diligently in various committees as shall be appointed or tasked from time to time;
5. Develop and update application systems;
6. Carry out system analysis design and software specifications in liaison with users;
7. Carry out repairs and maintenance of information communication technology equipment and associated peripherals;
8. Draw up hardware specification for information communication technology equipment;
9. Verify, validate and certify information, communication and technology equipment;
10. Implement the computer systems and provide user support, including training users;
11. Perform technical, systems and user documentation;
12. Repair and maintain information, communication and technology equipment and associated peripherals; and
13. Receive, install and certify information, communication and technology equipment.
Terms of Service
The successful applicant will be appointed for five (5) year contract term and may be eligible for reappointment as per the Kenya BioVax Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.
