SENIOR ENGINEER POWER DISPATCH – (KET 5) ONE (1 POSITION) REF:
KET/5/1C/40/206/VOL I – B (04/24) ON PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE TERMS
Reporting to the Manager, Real Time Operations
Job purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking quality and reliable delivery of
electrical energy by dispatching generation as planned to the consumer at ALL times and
respects commercial and technical obligations of the TSO.
Key Responsibilities;
i). Supervising system operations during shift;
ii). Tracking and reporting equipment loading, alarms on the system during the shift and
take appropriate action;
iii). Ensuring timely resolution of system breakdowns and response to emergencies;
iv). Reporting faulty equipment and SCADA/EMS malfunctions during shift to SCADA
supervisor;
v). Ensuring generation dispatch plan is adhered to;
vi). Monitoring effect of system disturbances on dispatch and implement dispatch changes
where necessary;
vii). Performing system studies/simulations and contingency analysis and recommend
corrective actions periodically during shift;
viii). Ensuring all information is captured in records/data (ELOA, EPTW, Handover notes
and log sheets) during shift;
ix). Reporting any incidences/event during the shift to the concerned
departments/agencies and management;
x). Reviewing the shift reports e.g. handover notes, Executive brief, disturbance report;
xi). Ensuring update of Load Shedding and Under Frequency files;
xii). Ensuring all planned and forced outages are captured in Electrical Asset Management
System.
Qualifications & Skills required
i). Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Electrical Engineering Degree
ii). Registered member with EBK;
iii). Member of IEK;
iv). Supervisory Skills Development Course lasting not less than four (2) weeks;
v). A minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience
Working condition - Office setting and field visits

Only Successful candidates will be expected to present the following Chapter Six Clearance
Certificates : -
a) Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
b) Valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
c) Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
d) Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
e) Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
