Job Description
Our client is a well established SACCO in Nairobi County. They wish to recruit an Credit Assistant – Collections. Working under the supervision and guidance of the Credit Officer, the Assistant Credit Officer in charge of collections’ main task is to ensure defaulted and delinquent loans are recovered/collected.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main duties of the Credit Assistant are:
• Define and implement strategies to collect debts from delinquent and defaulted accounts.
• Manage all delinquent and defaulted accounts by ensuring accuracy of record pertaining to the accounts.
• Reconcile monthly checkoff from employers and identify underpayments or non-payments and contact the concerned account holders immediately via letters, email, texts and phone calls.
• Negotiate payoff deadlines or payment plans for approval by the Credit Officer and/or the Credit Committee.
• Send monthly default notices to guarantors by text, email and hard-copy letters on the first month default and the subsequent months.
• Ensure guarantors are attached for defaulted loans appropriately and/or detached when the account is made good.
• Handle questions or complaints pertaining to defaulted/delinquent accounts.
• Investigate/Reconcile and resolve discrepancies in payments or accounts.
• Prepare monthly default and collection reports.
• Approve loans.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Degree in Business commerce (Accounting of Finance) or any relevant degree.
• CPA 2 and/or CCA 2
• At least three-year experience in Credit Management preferably in financial institution.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legal and regulations on Credit.
• Ability to work independently and,
• Attention to details.
REMUNERATION
• Gross Salary: Ksh 40,000 to Ksh 50,000 per month based on qualifications

TERMS OF SERVICE
1. This is a crucial operational position on an initial one (1) year contract terms (renewable based on performance and productivity).
2. The SACCO shall offer a competitively negotiated remuneration package based on qualifications, experience and performance.
3. A non-contributory medical benefit at the current medical scheme terms and conditions.
