ACCOUNTANT II — JOB GROUP ‘CPSB 10’ — V/NO/KCPSB/1 I/2021/23 (2 POSITIONS)
Terms of Service: 3 years contract
Remuneration: As per SRC guidelines
Requirements for Appointment
i. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus) or its approved equivalent
ii. Possess Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting Option) or any other approved equivalent qualification from an institution recognized in Kenya.
iii. A pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination or its recognized equivalent qualification will be added advantage
iv. Certificate in Computer applications and be proficient in Word Processors, Spreadsheets, presentation and Database
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting work of melted scope and under the guidance of a senior officer
i. Verifying compiled statistical records for accuracy
ii. Maintenance of stores records and equipment inventory
iii. Preparation of estimates of expenditure on general office services
iv. Safe custody of invoices, receipts and other records
v. Processing of documents for issue of license5 or certificates under relevant Acts
vi. Verification of vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations
vii. Data capture, maintenance of primary records such as cashbooks, ledgers, vote book, registers and preparation of simple management reports e.g. imprest and expenditure returns etc.
viii. Responsible for the safe custody of government records and assets under h1m/her
ix. Writing cheques and posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books
x. Balancing and ruling of the cash books on a daily basis
xi. Preparation of expenditure and authority to incur expenditure (AIE) funding returns on quarterly basis
