Job Description

SENIOR NURSING OFHCER (NEONATAL) JOB GROUP ‘CPSB 09’- V/NO. KCPSB/1 1/2021/22 (1 POSITION)

Terms of Service: 3-year contract
Remuneration: As per SRC guidelines

Requirements for Appointment
i. Higher diploma in neonatal nursing from a recognized institution
ii. Have a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
iii. Experience of at least 6 years, 5 of which must be in neonatal care unit
iv. Be computer literate
v. Excellent communication skills
vi. Training in nursing leadership and management added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities
i. Assessment of newborns and instituting lifesaving interventions
ii. Working with the midwives, medical officers and obstetricians in identification and management of anticipated neonatal complications
iii. Coordination of neonatal care services with the multidisciplinary team
iv. Planning and budgeting for commodities and equipment for neonatal care provision
v. Organization of the neonatal care unit for efficient service provision
vi. Ensure infection prevention and control in the unit
vii. Leading a team of nurses in provision of neonatal care
viii. Teaching and mentorship of nurses and multidisciplinary team in neonatal care
ix. Ensure preventive maintenance of neonatal care equipment together with the biomedical engineer
x. Advice the Hospital Nurse manager /Management team on Neonatal care needs
xi. Ensure accurate documentation of care provided and provide monthly reports through the HMIS
