Salary Scale: Ksh. 87,360 x 3,190 – 90,550 x 4,490 – 95,040 x 4,860 – 99,900 x 5,010 –
104,910 x 5,240 – 110,150 x 5,500 – 115,650 x 5,780 – 121,430 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: participating in development, review,
and implementation of socio economic policies, projects and programmes; promoting
socio-economic empowerment in the County; undertaking research on and
documentation of socio-economic issues; promoting programmes for socio-cultural
transformation at family level; monitoring socio-economic empowerment projects and
programmes; providing guidance on socio economic issues in Medium Term Expenditure
Framework budget; facilitating generation of socio economic disaggregated data;
implementation of socio economic related Funds; undertaking research on and
documentation of socio economic issues; coordinating community based programmes;
promoting partnership with stakeholders on community related matters; and supervising
and mentoring staff working under him/her.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
i. Served in the grade of Principal Social Development Officer for a minimum period
of three (3) years;
ii. Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Sociology, Social Work,
Psychology, Community Development, Project Development and Management,
Disability Studies, Anthropology, Counselling, Business Administration /
Management, Rehabilitation Studies, Gerontology, Education, Economics or
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Masters degree in any of the following disciplines:- Sociology, Social Work,
Psychology, Community Development, Project Development and Management,
Anthropology, Counselling, Social Studies, Project Planning and Management,
Public Policy, Disaster Management, Business Administration/Management or
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iv. Certificate in Social Work, Community Development or equivalent qualification
lasting not less than one (1) month from a recognized institution;
v. Been a person of integrity;
vi. Certificate in computer applications; and
vii. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
