POSITION: ICT OFFICER I - DATABASE ADMINISTRATION (JSG 5)

Gross Salary Scale : Kshs. 104,300 – 131,100 p.m.
Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for designing, developing, installing,
configuring, and maintaining databases in line with Judiciary requirements.
Reporting Responsibilities:
The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer
Area of Deployment:
Directorate of ICT
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Providing continuous support of production database services to ensure
highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, and performance
required by Judiciary;
ii. Implementing, installing, configuring, and upgrading databases and
applications in line with the Judiciary processes and policies;
iii. Developing business intelligence (BI) tools/solutions for business
reports;
iv. Establishing, implementing, maintaining and testing database back-up
and recovery plans;
v. Preparing regular schedules for conducting adequate backup and
recovery task for implementation and review;
vi. Developing/writing database documentation, including data standards,
procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata);
vii. Provision for storage and archiving procedures to facilitate for the
systems to functioning correctly;
viii. Providing second line technical support in resolution of application and
database technical issues raised by users and log the same in the
helpdesk;
ix. Undertaking research for ICT database solutions for Business
functions; and
x. Supervising, mentoring and nurturing staff under supervision.
Job Requirements:
Academic and Professional Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: -
i. A Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Technology, Informatics, Computer Science & Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Technology (BBIT), Computing Science and Technology, Computer Security and Forensics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
ii. Possess at least one (1) Professional certifications in database
administration (DB2, MCSE-DBA, OCP, SCTA, PqSQL-PC, MySQLDBA, Oracle, SAP HANA or equivalent) will be an added advantage;
iii. A Management course or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
iv. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
Experience:
i. A minimum three (3) years relevant work-experience with at least one
(1) year at Supervisory Level.
ii. Knowledge/experience working with preferably MySQL, Postgre SQL,
Oracle, SAP HANA and MSSQL.
