Basic Salary Scale : KES 147,181-207,612 per month
Key Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail: -
(i) Coordinating distribution of KIPPRA research outputs to all stakeholders;
(ii) Developing and implement procedures and policies for dissemination of KIPPRA
research outputs on economic policy to the government, the larger public and other
stakeholders;
(iii) Coordinating and develop special projects, programs, and services to promote
outreach and public awareness of research outputs by KIPPRA;
(iv) Developing and administer library budget;
(v) Harmonize, establishing, maintain, and monitoring the integrated library system using
recommended International Federation of Library Association (IFLA) standards;
(vi) Mentoring, supervising and appraise library personnel;
(vii) Ensuring compliance with the legal depository and requirements;
(viii) Ensuring compliance with the repository requirements for the policy resource
center;
(ix) Developing the sale and distribution policy of KIPPRA publications;
(x) Developing, implement and reviewing collection development policy;
(xi) Building capacity for researchers to search and retrieve online information resources;
(xii) Providing regular report on user satisfaction survey as a means of evaluating library
services;
(xiii) Developing and implement library policies and procedures for the Institute;
(xiv) Ensuring regular weeding of information resources and preparing relevant reports;
(xv) Developing and implement policy for policy resource center;
(xvi) Developing and implement a framework for classification of policy resources;
(xvii) Developing and implement an open access policy;
(xviii) Initiating, develop partnership and maintain contacts with national and international
resource centers;
(xix) Enhancing sharing of research outputs with other resource centers;
(xx) Providing direction in the development of specialized collections;
(xxi) Recommending standards and procedures for material selection and services in the
Institute;
(xxii) Developing and implement library programmes to cater for the needs of special
interest groups;
(xxiii) Overseeing and coordinating cataloging and classification of all library materials to
ensuring proper organization and ease in the retrieval of information; and
(xxiv) Preparing the annual work plans and reports.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Library Science, Information
Science, Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(ii) Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Library Science, Information
Science, Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iii) Professional qualification and affiliation to a professional body;
(iv) Skills in searching and retrieval of information and library resources;
(v) Experience in using computerized library application;
(vi) Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution;
(vii) Six (6) years of relevant experience three (3) of which in should have been in
supervisory level;
(viii) Knowledge of government policy making process is an added advantage;
(ix) Computer skills in searching and retrieval of information and resources; and
(x) Fulfil the requirement of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
