Job Requirements
i. Master Degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Agricultural Economics, Livestock Economics, or Development Economics from recognized institutions or their Equivalent. In addition, the qualification for this post must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the agricultural food production discipline.
ii. Have undertaken Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
iii. Five (5) years of which must be in a senior management position within the Public Service or Private Sector.
iv. Understand the diversity within the County
v. Be visionary and strategic thinker
vi. Ability to interpret technical documents
vii. Knowledge of relevant legislations and such as, The Constitution of Kenya, The County Government Act 2012, Sustainable Development Goals, Milan Urban Food Policy Pact and National Food and Nutrition Security Policy

Job Description
i. This position is responsible for directing, coordinating and implementing Nairobi City County food system and cross-sector programmes in the department, including food system appraisal, food security surveillance and monitoring and evaluation of cross-sector policies and programmes.
ii. Manages and supervises structured Nairobi City food system appraisal and food security surveillance
iii. Facilitate multi stakeholder dialogues, relationships and partnerships among public and private Food System actors and institutions.
iv. Promoting efforts to achieve the goal of sustainable city of Nairobi in the matter of food security through the sustainable urban food system;
v. Manages and supervises technical, statistical, and/or analytical services on various food system related studies, projects, and/or assessments and provides technical backstopping to field projects;
vi. Manages and supervises policy dialogue/exchange on the sustainability of Nairobi food system;
vii. Oversees the review process of cross-sector policies, legislation, strategies and incorporate feedback into a final draft;
viii. Facilitates the processes of departmental monitoring budgeting and performance contracting performance appraisal system
ix. Overseeing the planning of periodic food system appraisal and food security survey missions;
x. Producing comprehensive report for actors and policy makers on the findings of food system appraisal and food security surveys.
xi. Developing work plans and budgets as well as the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning food system programmes in the sector.
xii. Providing a secretariat for county departments implementing functions impacting on the Nairobi City food system.
xiii. Coordinating the development of cross-sectoral strategies and legislation
xiv. Promoting knowledge sharing and best practices at meetings and conferences and influences partners in stakeholder consultations;
xv. Prepares the budget for the directorate.
xvi. Ensure adherence to budgets that have been passed.
xvii. Holder of Authority to Incur Expenses for the directorate.
