DIRECTOR LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION AND FISHERIES JOB GROUP CPSB 03
Number of Posts: One (1) Post
Terms of Service: Four (4) Years Contract
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinating extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field
demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits.
2. Participating in development of public/private initiatives and overall policy formulation.
Preparing technical information in Animal Production, Livestock Marketing, Range
Management, Apiculture, Fisheries and Ranching.
3. Promoting and supporting Livestock & Fisheries market access initiatives. Promoting
economic Livestock farming.
4. Resourcing in technical workshops and seminars.
5. Researching, inventing and advising on livestock & Fisheries production technologies
and techniques.
6. Developing livestock production& Fisheries programmes/projects.
7. Preparing agribusiness, Ranches & farm plans and Fisheries & Aquaculture
Development Establishing linkages with Research institutions and other stakeholders
on livestock production & Fisheries Development matters.
8. Coordinating conservation and utilization of range resources.
9. Overseeing extension activities.
10. Overseeing the implementation of livestock & Fisheries information management
systems.
11. Coordinating monitoring and evaluation of livestock & Fisheries programmes.
12. Preparing technical papers and reports for professional forums and symposia.
13. Participating in formulation of livestock & Fisheries Bi- lateral/multilateral agreements.
Requirements for Appointment
1. Be a Kenyan Citizen;
2. Must have Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Director of Livestock Production or
seven (7) years' experience in private sector, three (3) years' of which must have been in a
senior management level in an institution either in public or private sector:
3. Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Science, and Production,
Agriculture, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource Management,
Livestock/Agricultura1 Economics, Dairy Technology or Agricultural Education and
Extension from a recognized institution;
4. Master's Degree in any relevant disciplines will be an added advantage;
5. Must be computer literate;
6. Shown outstanding administrative capability and professional competence required in
managing Livestock Production services; and,
7. Experience in implementing Fisheries & Aquaculture Development will be an added
advantage.
