Our client, a Safari company with offices in Nairobi, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to plan and coordinate a wide range of infrastructural development projects from initiation to close-out. The successful candidate will be involved in early project viability activities and once approved, manage the various stages of project implementation, review, status tracking, commissioning and ultimate handover to operations. He/She will need to be well-versed in construction methodologies & project management stages principles and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines, to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have to demonstrate a pro-active and detail-focused approach, being organised it critical to successful execution of this role.
Key Requirements:
• Ensure all projects are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget
• Lead the initiation and planning of a project and ensure technical feasibility
• Ensure resources availability and allocation
• Develop a detailed plan to monitor and track the progress of the project
• Coordinate with internal and external parties for the flawless execution of projects
• Manage relationships between clients and stakeholders
• Measure project performance using appropriate project management tools
• Ensure regular site attendance and meetings to discuss and analyze information on current project progress – provide performance reports to give the team and stakeholders an understanding of performance levels and task progress
• Perform risk management analysis to reduce project risks, report and escalate issues to upper management as and when needed
• Create and maintain a comprehensive project documentation
• Assist in the process of obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
• Issue completion & occupational certificates as and when required
• Assist with resources (manpower, equipment and materials) planning, monitoring related to successful completion of project initiatives
• Assist contractors in construction planning and monitor progress against pre-set milestones
• Manage projects on green building standards, as adopted by the company, from pre-design through construction to operational optimization
• Implement and manage to pre-agreed cost control measures, to remain within the budget framework
• Lead the quality management process from start to end and ensure that all parties involved cooperate and comply
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure adherence to all health & safety and environmental standards, manage implementation of mitigating measures
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years proven experience as project manager of infrastructural developments (Tourism sector experience is a bonus)
• Proven knowledge & experience in construction methodologies, processes, sequences and standards
• Proven knowledge of health and safety standards
• Proven knowledge of environmental standards related to construction in remote areas
• Strong PC skills and knowledge of programming software and task management software
• Proven communication and team management skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• A team player with leadership abilities
• Formal accreditation to project management and /or construction regulatory authorities
• Formal training & qualifications in project management and /or construction management
