COUNTY SOLICITOR, JOB GROUP “R” – ONE (1) POST
Requirements for Appointment
i. Be a citizen of Kenya;
ii. Be a holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a University
recognized in Kenya;
iii. Be a holder of a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from a university
recognized in Kenya;
iv. Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya of not less than five (5)
years post-admission experience
v. A Masters Degree in Law will be an added advantage.
vi. Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing;
vii. Knowledge in records of relevant laws and professional standards.
viii. Certificate in Computer applications from an institution recognized
in Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
The County Solicitor will report to the County Attorney and his/her
duties and responsibilities will include:
i. Coordinate representation of the County Executive in court or in
any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a
party or has interest;
ii. Prepare legal opinion to County Executive on legislative and other
legal matters;
iii. Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for
and on behalf of the county executive;
iv. Formulate and review county laws in consultation with the
relevant bodies;
v. Supervise litigation, drafting and conveyance;
vi. Prepare cabinet memoranda;
vii. Oversee the finances and asset management of the office of the
County Attorney;
viii. Overall supervision, control, discipline, training and development
of staff in the County Attorney office;
ix. Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the
County Government;
x. Ensure compliance with national, regional and international legal
instruments, identifying and acting on impediments and
constraints to the implementation of laws and policies;
xi. Design, facilitate and implement prioritized programs
Terms of Service: Three (3) years contract renewable subject to
performance
